The Moontower Comedy Festival, a renowned showcase of stand-up comedy, demands a stage that reflects its grandeur. When Austin Theatre Alliance sought to upgrade their main stage signage, we stepped up to the challenge.
Portability, modularity, and durability were key considerations. The signs needed to be easily assembled, disassembled, and moved, while also accommodating potential changes in sponsorship or location. Our solution: a freestanding structure with modular panels and a design that minimized footprint while maximizing impact.

nspired by the festival's branding, we incorporated "moontower" elements into the design. To create depth and dimension, we used offset layers of flat aluminum letters, offering durability and reduced weight. The "Just For Laughs" and "Austin" panels are modular, allowing for easy updates without the need for extensive modifications.
In a surprising turn of events, "Just For Laughs" filed for bankruptcy just five weeks before the 2024 festival. Thanks to our foresight and modular design, we were able to quickly update the sign to read "Comedy Festival" without incurring significant costs or delays.
The result is a striking and versatile sign that perfectly complements the festival's atmosphere. As comedians take the stage, our work stands tall, a testament to our commitment to creating memorable and impactful signage, even in the face of unexpected challenges.
