RWE, a German multinational energy company, worked with Abel Design Group (ADG) to design their new 70,000 square-foot office in Austin. Having worked with us on several projects, ADG asked us to understand their vision for the two-floored office space and design signage and branded moments that complement the clean-not-sterile aesthetic.

The first step to designing for spaces and places is pulling back and seeing the larger picture. A comprehensive spatial analysis allowed us to understand the overall flow and atmosphere of the space. Slapping the logo on everything isn’t how branding a space works. Rather, tasteful and intentional touchpoints create opportunities to celebrate the brand’s mission, values, and successes. In beautifully designed spaces, room and wayfinding signs shouldn’t compete for attention. Effective and compliant signage should be noticeable only when needed.
Beyond the signage, the vast number of glass offices and blank walls throughout required clever, yet simple solutions. Custom designed and printed frosted window treatments limited distractions in offices, offered privacy where necessary, and supported the visual narrative. Reimagined images and schematic design compositions brought both color and interest to large walls and narrow hallways.
A robust, integrated sign package encompassed all necessary components, from room identification to egress and back-of-house signage. Effective project management was crucial, especially with multiple trades working concurrently. Our team maintained constant communication with the construction team, ensuring timely and budget-conscious execution, highlighting the importance of partnership and attention to detail in creating a beautiful, cohesive, and effective branded office environment.
